Aloha, everyone. This is a great opportunity to express your concerns and/or offer suggestions to the Department of Land and Natural Resources. Plans are being laid for a North Kohala Scenic Highway (Akonipule through Pololu) supported by the North Kohala Community Resource Center. A committee meets weekly and the project has been worked on for a year, yet many kama'aina and newcomers to Kohala know NOTHING of this project.

Highways cause great change. The Alii Parkway was stopped in Kona by the people because the development it would have brought along its route would have made it even more difficult to "keep" the life of… Continue

Keith Rose here.

I’m organizing the ‘350 Honolulu’ rally to take place on Saturday October 24, 2009 from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. at the State Capitol.

On that day throughout the world, rallies will be held to raise awareness of climate change and to establish a goal of 350 parts per million of CO2. This movement is in preparation for the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen December 7-18, 2009.

This 350 ppm number is The Most Important Number in the World and is a tangible and appropriate goal that our leaders need to have in mind going into the Conference.

We want to make an iconic image from Honolulu and what I had in mind is to form a large human ‘350’ in front of the Capitol Building. I want to have this assembled for photo at 3:50 p.m. If we have enough people we’ll form a human lei around the building.

I have the permit for the rally and want your support and participation for this event. As an environmental leader, please spread the word to your circle of influence.

Please see Thos organization and movement is founded by Bill McKibben.

I look forward to hearing from you and let’s make this the most significant environmental rally to date!

Sustainably yours,
Keith Rose
Organizer of 350 Honolulu
