Rail to Increase Green Development

While the potential routes, technologies and costs of the City and County of Honolulu’s rail project remain hot button issues, the decisions that are ultimately made will effect the greening of Honolulu.Rail projects across the country have spurned transit-oriented development projects, many of which include LEED certified buildings and other green developments. Transit Oriented Development is typically defined as development within a quarter to a half a mile of a transit stop, whose design is…See More

Mandating Green vs. Incentivizing Green

For instance, the federal government via the…See More

Aloha,

Keith Rose here.

I’m organizing the ‘350 Honolulu’ rally to take place on Saturday October 24, 2009 from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. at the State Capitol.

On that day throughout the world, rallies will be held to raise awareness of climate change and to establish a goal of 350 parts per million of CO2. This movement is in preparation for the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen December 7-18, 2009.

This 350 ppm number is The Most Important Number in the World and is a tangible and appropriate goal that our leaders need to have in mind going into the Conference.

We want to make an iconic image from Honolulu and what I had in mind is to form a large human ‘350’ in front of the Capitol Building. I want to have this assembled for photo at 3:50 p.m. If we have enough people we’ll form a human lei around the building.

I have the permit for the rally and want your support and participation for this event. As an environmental leader, please spread the word to your circle of influence.

Please see www.350.org. Thos organization and movement is founded by Bill McKibben.

I look forward to hearing from you and let’s make this the most significant environmental rally to date!

Sustainably yours,
Keith Rose
