I'm traveling to Hawaii in the next month and I'm researching different
mobile solutions. In particular, I'm wondering about
satelite internet, or
satellite high speed internet to be exact. I'm sure travelers often have business needs that require them to secure internet access while traveling through Hawaii. As much as I hate to have to spend any time glued to my computer when I could be experiencing all the beautiful things that Hawaii has to offer its an unfortunate necessity.
As I've done some research on this topic, I've begun considering the environmental ramifications of providing people with the Internet. It generally involves some type of cable being led, in old school days it would be coaxial now its usually fiber optic cable or something even more technologically advanced. Even with these advancements, laying any kind of cable involves a substantial amount of environmental disturbance. When you stretch that across miles of land it adds up. I've never really given much thought to this issue before or about how satellite might be a more environmentally friendly option. I would imagine that satellites have their own unique impact on the environment but I haven't come across much information on that. I don't have anything conclusive to say on the matter, I just found it to be very interesting.
